Linda Chaput is the founder and CEO of Agile Mind, Inc., and has led its efforts to pioneer the application of emerging technologies to transform the teaching and learning of mathematics and science in our nation’s middle and high schools. Under Linda’s leadership, through the respectful and innovative application of modern technologies, Agile Mind is realizing its commitment to help educators teach smarter and to equip students to take more responsibility for their learning. The company has been awarded 9 of the prestigious Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards, created by the U.S. government to support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of federal research funds in small businesses.
The company works closely with leading researchers and educators—among them, The Charles A. Dana Center at The University of Texas at Austin, BSCS, The Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of Illinois-Chicago, and the Silicon Valley Mathematics Initiative—to develop instructional and assessment programs, tools, reports, and professional services. It partners with school districts to implement them and to improve them. The results: dramatically improved outcomes in student engagement and achievement, as well as teacher effectiveness and satisfaction.
The company hosts one of the largest repositories of data on student learning of mathematics and social-emotional and noncognitive concepts in the country. These data are used by researchers for continuous improvement and to deepen the research base for those working to foster high achievement—especially in school systems serving highly diverse populations.
Before founding Agile Mind, Linda founded and led Cogito, which developed supplemental digital resources for critical competency subjects in higher education.
Earlier, for almost a decade, Linda led the education and reference publishing companies of Scientific American, a leading publisher of books, magazines, software, and other educational, reference, and recreational materials for college students, professionals, and other interested readers of science, mathematics, and medicine.
Linda has been named one of the 10 Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs, an award created to honor “the most innovative, ground-breaking, game-changing female entrepreneurs in the U.S.” by Fortune Magazine and American Express OPEN. She received a B. S. in journalism from the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas.
John Moore has over 25 years of experience in U.S. and international market development and sales strategies, customer relationship management and organizational development strategies.
John has consulted extensively with companies and organizations in the education and educational technology sectors, supporting new market initiatives, innovative product strategies and the development of sales and customer service organizations. John was Senior Partner and Director of Sales and Customer Service for Rubicon International, an educational technology and services firm, which developed the Atlas Curriculum Management System and Pleiades Student Assessment system. He successfully managed a SaaS based ed tech sales, customer service, and consulting organization from start-up to a mature business and market leader. He led the business into international markets, expanding to customers in over 100 countries, with a special focus on Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In North American and international markets, he developed numerous strategic partnerships, sales arrangements, and new ventures.
John brings deep knowledge and experience in direct sales initiatives in the K-12 education sector in North America and in international markets, including sales channel development, consultative sales and customer service models and regional partnership arrangements. John received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a master’s degree from the University of Michigan. He has presented on education sector trends at numerous conferences and events around the world.
Andy brings more than 25 years of experience in software development, IT management, quality assurance, and operations to this leadership role.
Before joining Agile Mind, Andy served as CTO and VP of advanced technology at Walmart.com, where he oversaw end-to-end e-commerce architecture, ensuring a scalable, available, and secure platform. Prior to that, Andy was CTO and vice president of engineering at Internet start-up More.com, where he was responsible for integrating business systems, including supply chain management, customer relationship management, and data warehouses with the company’s web portal. Andy also served as vice president of the Internet Applications Division at Oracle, with responsibility for technology management of e-commerce, collaboration, web portals and document management. He also spent eight years at Apple Computer in a variety of capacities ranging from managing software development for the original PowerBooks to senior director of communications and collaboration technologies, which included responsibility for Apple’s collaborative learning products. Andy began his career writing real-time imaging software for Voyager Spacecraft at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is an active contributor to the Open Source community and maintains an online resource of wearable computer technologies.
David has over 20 years of experience in K-12 education, including key district and campus leadership roles and seven years as a classroom teacher.
David was of director of professional services for Teachscape, where he led recruitment, training, support, and supervision of the company’s consultants and developed and coordinated face-to-face and online professional learning programs for consultants and service personnel.
Prior to Teachscape, David worked for Edison Schools, first as deputy director of the curriculum division and then as senior vice president, where he developed the framework and protocol for supporting, monitoring, and evaluating program implementation and student achievement in a national network of 91 schools in 23 states. David was a middle-school science teacher for seven years, as well as an assistant principal, a program coordinator, a director of curriculum and instruction, and a principal of a start-up school. David received his undergraduate degree from Valparaiso University and his master’s degree in education from Johns Hopkins University, where he also taught courses in special education and pedagogy in its graduate program.
Gregg has more than 20 years of experience in private sector education technology. A CPA, Gregg began his career in the audit and consulting practice of KPMG and was a founding executive of Jostens Learning, an educational software publisher and services provider for pre-K to adult learners.
During his tenure at Jostens, he held a number of executive positions including chief financial and administrative officer, vice president and general manager of package software, and senior vice president responsible for national sales, marketing, government relations, and customer service. In the mid-90s, Gregg founded Whole Village Technology, a pioneering educational application service provider. In partnership with the state of Florida, Whole Village created ActionProfiler, a tool for enhancing parental involvement in student learning. After completing a merger of Whole Village, Gregg joined the Agile Mind founding team as chief operating officer.
With nearly 20 years of experience in instructional design and production of educational technology, Debbie leads an expert team in the design and production of all Agile Mind online program content.
Debbie began her career at Stanford University, as part of a group working on early multimedia educational technologies in collaboration with Apple Computer, IBM and NeXT. She worked with Stanford educators to produce and deliver innovative uses of these technologies into high school and university classrooms. She moved from there to work at Silicon Valley companies Pensare, Inc. and Aplia, Inc., where she built and directed production teams to create web-based educational services used at hundreds of colleges and universities across the US. In these efforts, Debbie and her colleagues collaborated with educators at Harvard University, Duke University, the Wharton School of Business and the Annenberg Foundation at USC. Before joining Agile Mind, Debbie worked as an independent consultant, providing strategic advice, user-interface design, proposal writing, and design of online learning interactions for a variety of clients. Debbie holds a master’s degree in computer science from Stanford University.
