Trigger Modal

We must equip students to thrive in the 21st century, and far too many are getting left behind. Together, we can work to ensure instruction that helps students in every class every day, to use technology to accelerate learning, and to push for success well beyond high school graduation. To date, nearly 4 million students and 35,000 educators have benefited from Agile Mind’s programs and services. Here is how our approach works.

Five foundational principles underlie the Agile Mind approach to education:

Comprehensive, aligned system for teaching and learning

Agile Mind programs are not simply a better digital curriculum. They are a complete set of resources to help teachers manage their work effectively and to enable students to take responsibility for their learning:

  • Job-embedded professional support, lesson plans, and high-yield instructional, assessment, and differentiation strategies
  • Rigorous, coherent course curricula built for our next-generation standards, enriched by animations, multiple representations, and simulations of central concepts
  • Comprehensive practice, homework, and test preparation resources to enable students to learn at their own pace
  • Rich formative assessments, many automatically graded
  • Real-time data and reports on the progress of effort and learning
  • Print resources to support students and teachers

Agile Mind brings coherence to the supports for student learning, for continuous professional learning for teachers, for the management needs for administrators, and the standards by which progress is measured. For details on Agile Mind course programs, click here.

Teachers at the heart of instructional leadership

To succeed, educators must be equipped with resources worthy of the challenges they face every day. We use 21st century technologies to provide the tools, knowledge, and support teachers need to elevate their practice for all of the students they serve.

Building for next-generation standards, not just aligning to them

Agile Mind’s founding research and development partner, the Charles A. Dana Center at The University of Texas at Austin, has been involved from inception in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM), the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and other key college readiness standards—and in the deeper learning they represent.

Leveraging that knowledge and expertise, our programs have been built from the ground up to incorporate the vision as well as the requirements of these next-generation standards. Our professional development services specifically address the practice and content standards envisioned by the CCSSM and college readiness requirements.

Explicit development for 21st century skills

Core to Agile Mind’s pedagogical approach is the knowledge that 21st century skills, such as motivation, positive self-belief, productive persistence, and sense of belonging are fundamental to success in school, college, and career. Our mathematics and science programs incorporate breakthrough research in the application of these factors and their effect on how students learn. In addition, this knowledge is explicitly taught in our family of Academic Youth Development programs.

Embedded formative assessments

Research makes clear that formative assessment—in which teachers use timely data on student progress to inform instructional decisions over the course of lessons, units or marking periods—produces greater growth in student achievement than any other improvement effort. Every Agile Mind course program encompasses thousands of formative assessments, most of which can be automatically graded and reported in real time, providing instantaneous, targeted feedback for learners while enabling teachers to use data to impact instructional decisions in the moment.

To date, almost 4 million students have engaged more than 3 billion times with our embedded assessment tasks. Data on their experiences are used to enhance tasks to ensure they fulfill the promise made by assessments: that if learners have mastered the necessary knowledge, they will succeed.
